5 Benefits of Lavender

and how to use it

I linked an article at the bottom to a study that proved that different fragrances create different brain waves. Students used an EEG to see spontaneous brain activity after smelling certain scents. I’m just focusing on lavender here.

They found 2 things you might care about:

  • Even a small whiff of a scent triggers memories.

  • Lavender specifically helps you calm down or fall asleep, but it can also help you focus.

Lavender increased theta and alpha waves. Meaning:

  • Theta waves make you daydream, boost creativity, and feel sleepy. They also make memories.

  • Drop some lavender essential oil close by when you need inspiration.

  • Alpha waves make you feel calm and alert. And they are part of learning.

  • Light a lavender candle when you’re trying to study.

Why you might care

  1. It’s doesn’t take a lot of effort. Something as simple as dropping a lavender wax melt in a warmer, or drop a couple of drops of essential oil on something in the room will do it.

  2. It could help relieve stress!

Hopefully this helps you take full advantage. Go find the first lavender scented thing in your home and see if it helps you stay focused.

I haven’t tried aromatherapy either, so we can experiment with this together. In my experience, I have lit a lavender candle and happened to get the inspiration to make a new candle label and a couple of IG posts. Share your aromatherapy story with me. I’d love to hear from you!
